Many years passed since the last The King of Fighters Tournament. Most of the fighters got together with their beloved ones and started their families. A peaceful life.
However, a man called Kubisaki Tohko started building new stadiums all over the world. He says it's time for a new The King of Fighters Tournament and everyone that can fight is invited. The prize is high. And of course, that would be enough to get a new generation of fighters to start training to join this. Specially the ones already involved with the famous people that once fought on that Tournament. All of them have their own reason.
But who will be the best? Who will be the king or queen of all fighters?
